abstract:Paimio Sanatorium is a former tuberculosis sanatorium in Paimio, Finland Proper, designed by Finnish architect Alvar Aalto. The building was completed in 1932, and soon after received critical acclaim both in Finland and abroad.
His Viipuri City Library of 1927-35, the Turun Sanomat building of 1928-30, for a newspaper in Turku, and the Paimio Tuberculosis Sanatorium of 1929-33, were assured exercises in the new, white-walled, abstract aesthetic.
