海棠
海棠是苹果属（Malus）多种植物和木瓜属（Chaenomeles）几种植物的通称与俗称。代表植物海棠花（学名：Malus spectabilis）和木瓜（学名：Chaenomeles sinensis）都是蔷薇科的灌木或小乔木，为中国著名观赏树种，各地习见栽培。园艺变种有粉红色重瓣者和白色重瓣者。苹果属植物在全世界共有35种，分布于北温带，中国有25种，除华南地区外均有分布。海棠类多为用于城市绿化、美化的观赏花木（虽然其中不乏果实有很高食用价值的品种）。其中许多是著名的观赏植物，如：西府海棠、垂丝海棠、贴梗海棠和木瓜海棠，习称“海棠四品”，是重要的温带观花树木。
