海底地貌是海水覆盖下的固体地球表面形态的总称。海底有高耸的海山，起伏的海丘，绵延的海岭，深邃的海沟，也有坦荡的深海平原。纵贯大洋中部的大洋中脊，绵延8万千米，宽数百至数千千米，总面积堪与全球陆地相比。大洋最深点11,033米，位于太平洋马里亚纳海沟，超过了陆上最高峰珠穆朗玛峰的海拔高度（8,844.43米）。
