松柏醇是一种有机化合物，常温下是一种米黄色固体，是一种植物化学物质。它既不溶于水，也不溶于 NaHCO3溶液。植物细胞壁在木质化过程中，松柏醇和葡萄糖形成的配糖化合物(松柏苷)，然后在酶的作用下，脱除葡萄糖单元，松柏醇经过聚合作用沉积在细胞壁和胞间层中，形成木素高分子。
