咽的3部之一。又称中咽，位于腭帆游离缘和会厌上缘平面之间部分，向前经咽峡与口腔相同，上续鼻咽，下通喉咽。通常所谓咽部即指此区。腭扁桃体、咽扁桃体、舌扁桃体在鼻腔和口腔通咽处，共同形成一个淋巴环，称咽淋巴环，具有防御功能。
